everyone with the illusion hate means they just don't know how to use it properly.
i've been playing an illusionist in preparation for my dawnguard vampire build and it's been the most fun of any character i've played yet.
- you can turn enemies against themselves - you can stop them from attacking - you can cause them to run away and give you a breather to regen some magicka in a pinch - you can augment your sneaking with muffle/invisibility and quiet casting that effects everything...including shouts
- coupling this with conjuration and sneak, you never have to wield an offensive weapon yourself. you just raise whoever dies in the fury/frenzy/etc first and they'll kill off the survivor(s). this is unquestionably the most fun i've had with this game. it's rediculous. i can't encourage everyone else enough to give illusion a serious try.
so, with that all said, since i apparently can't heal illusion twice, i'll heal it once and heal conjuration as well since it's such a great support school.
if i have to pick one to hurt, it would be restoration. i've never taken restoration past adept level...every spell above that seems completely worthless to me.
seriously....people hating on illusion is very disturbing.
this. its what i did for my master manipulator build. i foolishly thought i would need def so i perked up my alteration tree, but i have yet to actually take damage in almost 15 lvls(lvl 46 right now). never used a weapon. just run around with frenzy and soul trap with a follower(or 3) and made all the little critters run at me rather than have to chase them down. once had about 6 dear 3 foxes and a handfull of rabbits chasing me just for the fun of it. looked like a really messed up scene from snow white lol.
