We (PS3) just don't get those problems anymore. I hope a boxer answers though, since I'm no help to ya. = /
I work hard, but I'm underpaid. I'm tired, and I'm restless.

I've frozen on loading screens a few rare times after 4-5 hours of playing, but never crashed.
Have you been crashing, or are you just asking?

If you are, how old is your Xbox? That affects most games these days.
Most old consoles tend to slow, unfortunately.

I got an elite last year. I should clarify and say "freezing."

Froze in-world a cpl times recently. Before I'd just occasionally freeze on load screens.

Yeah, but I've read of people with 20M+ files with essentially zero framerate/slowdown.

When they finally fixed it with 1.4 (and borked some of it again, in 1.5...) we haven't really had issues since. I'd look now, but I don't feel like fishing around... but I'm certain I've had 18+ with no issues at all, and I don't even buy/decorate houses. = D

Clear your game cache^

That's the likely culprit.

Wow, uh...try cleaning out the dust from your console, or moving it somewhere it can vent.
I bought my xbox 5 years ago, and one file has a couple hundred hours on it, yet never crashes mid game.

Sounds bad to me.
Like all computers, the xbox runs on magic and prayer so I suggest do the above and try to play shorter sessions.
That and hope it doesn't get worse.

It's just chillin on the carpeted floor out of the way. Sessions haven't been too long as of late, tho they were pretty long at times over the last year with skyrim ha

Does game cache clearing remove patches and/ or add-ons?
