Why are mods so popular amongst the PC crowd?

Jebus, this is a despicable thread. I own a gaming PC/360/PS3 and this is nothing more than children with no PC versus adults with a PC.

What the hell does an Arkansas neckbeard have to do with owning a PC? All that hate because you don't have a PC. Stop buying Pokemon games and you could afford a good rig.

Mods are wonderful. We don't have to wait 6 months for a patch when the community can create one in a week. We don't have to wait on disc based DLC, we can create our own. The first "DLC" for Morrowind was a user created adventure, or mod for the simple minded. Go here:

You got to be a frigging idiot not to see how fun it can be. And some of you, just to be an ass, will still hate on it. Just keep paying your 60 dollars for yet another derivative COD title and whining because you suck and everything is OP. You could have a PC and not wait 2 years for a DLC that's already on the disc. You could spend your spare neckbeard rant time working a part time job and building a rig. But it's easier to sit here and be the 2012 Internet Tough Guy because you don't own a PC for anything other than coming here and checking your worthless Facebook page.

Grow up.

Just going through Nexus, it seems to be because they're all pervs? All the top rated / popular ones are skimpy armours, female replacement models with zero regard for anatomical accuracy and "beauty" mods (beauty is in "air quotes" because it usually means some kind of doll like hyper smooth and plastic looking thing - NFI what the fetish there is...).

That is the section of the PC gaming community we do not like to talk about.

Anyway, the reason people like mods, including me, is for multiple reasons. They can keep you playing the game longer with more content, they can fix bugs developers never fixed, they can change things about the game you didn't like, and they can even add entirely new, awesome things, like the ability to build and manage a small town.

Its staggering when "nerds" call other "nerds" "nerds" or some other derogatory form of it. Its like sitting on a gaming forum discussing a game that ironically the mainstream non-gaming audience would be equally harsh and dismissive of you for playing doesnt strike some cord of awareness (seriously, this isnt Madden or CoD, this is no "dudebro" mainstream acceptability pass for this game), but then to be so oblivious as to try and call out another gamer because he plays on a different console is so absurd its hilarious. How is our community as a whole so disjointed and tbh silly that we discriminate based on console?

Maybe its just me because Im fortunate enough own a 360 a PS3 and a gaming PC that I built I have a different perspective. For me the decision is "what will this particular game run best on" (which isnt always PC btw since that can come with an entirely different set of crap). For games like this, PC has more flexibility with mods and frankly if these mods were available on Xbox or PS3 I'm 99.9% sure the top mods would still be skanky armor mods and things along those lines. That said, I went 360 for this game and the benefit there is better dlc support it seems.

Game system wars are something not antirely suprising. The conflict of interests along with the side dish of jealosy will start any war. Especialy the forum ones.
I kinda wish there will be a TES game for ouya. Would be interesting to find out what console comunity would come up with.

They're great because they explore aspects of the game that were fully intended to be explored by the developers, but were left out for various reasons.

Like nipples? Real "exploratory".

Mods are amazing and can add things to the game the developers were too lazy to add in.

Case in point, one of my favourite mods allows your companion to transform into a Werewolf when you fight something. Why wasn't that in vanilla with the companions?

Also LOOOOOTS of really good weapon and armour aesthetic mods. Also fix the magic system so it is actually viable at high levels.

Magics already viable at high levels.

some magic mods have dozens or even hundreds of new and improved spells. making magic an extremely potent choice. far more than it is now.

Are people seriously anti-mod? Why? Most modders are hobbyist, to call them neckbeards and antisocial is a sweeping ignorant view. What is wrong with the modding community simply doing what they like and producing what they want for there own benefit, Modders dont mod for you people, they mod for themselves. So whats the problem?
