Can we solve the Mystery of Hrodulf's House *spoilers*

Now this place is interesting for the simple fact that it has a story to it but no Quest unlike most places in Skyrim that have a Quest but no backstory.

Hrodulf seems to have done mad after hearing voices coming from under House, he dig under his house and found a simple Dwarven Ruin and presumably killed himself in his madness.

The last entry in his Journal is something about Fire coming from The Deep, could this be another hint at Red Mountain erupting again? Or just a nod back to the Deep Ones Quest from Oblivion?

What does strike me is that the entire Ruin under his House seems to point you towards the massive Chest set in the wall that you cant open. It looks much like the Dwemer Puzzle Box from Vanilla Skyrim

Any thoughts, ideas?

I love when Bethesda does stuff like this - it's really where they shine. Reminds me (in a way) of going through the Dunwich building in Fallout 3.

Maybe it has something to do with Heartstones? That was my only idea. I gave up on it almost immediately after finding it. = . =

Kinda reminds me of how Frostflow Lighthouse was totally unmarked. It just sort of happened.

Yes, especially since the Dragonborn has a Lovecraftian feel to it!
