If a Dwemer were to shave their beard off would they just be an Altmer?

Eh, probably.

I like this skin theory better than the old one.

Actually a serious question lol
Granted I was drunk when I asked it :S

I think what my brain was trying to get at was this.. were the Altmer, Chimer and Dwemer all closely related enough to be indistinguishable if the Dwemer didn't have their iconic beards?

Would probably be a good bet. I mean, there could be other facial structure differences and whatnot we don't know about though.

I think Dwemer have paler skin, bigger ears, and smaller eyes. All effects of living underground.

Those assumptions are mostly based on this pic: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120107003841/elderscrolls/images/3/3b/MW-Dwemer.png

Right ok, because correct me if I'm wrong but i thought the Chimer were practically identical to Altmer.
Only being a "separate race" because of them branching off from traditional worship and instead worshipping the Daedra?
Did Chimer always mean "changed ones/folk"
Or did it come to mean that after being "changed" into Dunmer by Azura?

So many questions man :S

Ps. I'm quite hurt that you think I was trying to troll *sniff*
:'(
Merry Christmas by the way dude

Isn't that just a "de-ghost effect" picture?
This is the confusion.
Biologically it would make sense because of the whole living underground thing.

But lore wise I thought the Bosmer "evolved" a lot later in the Era so it wouldn't make much sense to assume the Dwemer evolved so much in so little time?

Plus the devs obviously never intended for that to be an actual Dwemer, just a ghost of one.
:S

I imagine their skills made them a seperate race moreso than looks.
Dunmer would have been more melee / sneaking.
Dwemer would be smarter than the rest.
Altmer would be pure mages.

I'm inclined to disagree, no society can survive without a diverse set of skills.
Granted they may have all had their strengths but I can't imagine they were all as stagnant as you have suggested.
