Do you concider Skyrim to be a true role-playing game?

Eh, it's on the border.

Sadly, it still allows more freedom then some of the more recent console RPGs in terms of creating your own back story and play style.

Depends what definition you go by.

If you consider an RPG to be a game that you can roleplay in, then of course it would be an RPG. As would 90% of games.

If you consider an RPG to be a game that encourages roleplay on a non-superficial level through player choice/development/consequence, then it wouldn't be.

If you consider an RPG to be a game that turtle duck fish, then ruin face on keyboard jester.

Witcher 2? Player choice and consequence seem to have a big impact in that game.

No. A true RPG for me is the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games, not games like TES and Fallout.
