Which side do you prefer all around? - Results (79 votes)
Wow I much prefer this side of the game as far as rewards goes. Its incredible to be a Vamp Lord.... Lord lol. I much prefer having my own castle and people taking my orders instead of dealing with Isran. I completed all of the quests and then Ash glitched the rest so now its all mine except for Serana and the Shops. Main reason I could never bring myself to do this side of Dawngaurd is because I couldn't not have that crossbow. But Dovahgult fixed that so now I have the best of both worlds! :). Although the story feels much more right going Dawngaurd. --- This Signature can only be viewed by a Gamefaqs Gold member, upgrade to Gold to view this Signature. |
xanthan1Posted 1/27/2013 12:20:09 AM | Both sides are stupid and that vamp chick should of just died at the start. The fact you CAN'T kill her is a plot hole. What's that mister kill every vampire I see ever, you want to kill this vampire? Screw you, you can't because the writing is bad and they couldn't actually come up with a reason NOT to kill her. |
RampagingwalrusPosted 1/27/2013 12:35:28 AM | Agreed, you should have been able to stake Serana as soon as you opened her "casket."
Also, why do people seem to like the Dawnguard exclusive crossbows so much? Armour penetration is pointless, and useless, since almost no enemies actually have a decent armour rating. --- Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. |

Do you kill the court wizard of Solitude? She's a vampire. Did you try to kill the Count of Skinrad in Oblivion? He's a vampire too. Generally, the PC doesn't go apemurderkill! on npcs that aren't hostile. |
95_EclipsePosted 1/27/2013 9:10:59 AM | I was disappointed in that aspect of Dawnguard (I actually got more playtime out of DG than DB. So I feel like nostalgia is blinding most people), but both sides essentially end the same exact way. I was hoping to block out the damn sun. --- Favorite game to date - Xenogears \/-/-/-/\ |

Hey, dummy. It's not a plot hole. When you are sent to Dimhollow, your objective is "Find out what the vampires are looking for." When you find this secret sealed tomb, that's obviously what they're looking for, and you need to keep her alive to get information from her. |
Mu_NovaPosted 1/27/2013 9:16:45 AM (edited) | Vamp side, I think. I keep playing good characters (whether vampire or not), so the dark/evil atmosphere doesn't fit too well, buuuut if I go Dawnguard, I don't like how my character is shoehorned into having an issue with vampires as a whole besides Serana.
(my personal philosophy, therefore for most o my characters, is that many vampires are evil, but not all, and if a vampire doesn't hurt anyone I'll leave it alone. Plus, my last character had some interest in becoming one if the opportunity arose--but when Serana offers to make me one before Soul Cairn my character is forced to be all "WTF DAMMIT". bleh. Plus there's Valerica telling me I have a vendetta against all vampires when I don't)
So, I may go Dawnguard when I'm RPing a character who would never side with naughty vamps, but... Bleh. I prefer vamp side for RP reasons, and like Dawnguard side for allowing me to RP as a killer of bad vampires while still able to be one myself. And besides, vamp side shoehorns my character into at least getting snappy and threatening against Dexion, but... small price to pay. --- "Ah yes, 'cliff racers'... I have dismissed that claim." ~ St. Jiub I like My Little Pony. You do not have to watch My Little Pony. |

FastEddie2121Posted 1/27/2013 10:31:46 AM (edited) | I wasn't a big fan of both factions having pretty much the same quest line, but I shouldn't have been surprised since that is what they did with the civil war. I groaned when I had to go do the elder scroll fetch quest from the main quest. Complaints aside, I thought DG was decent. I liked the Dawnguard npcs since they had different voices and didn't spout the usual canned lines and I really like the various armor styles for the vampire hunters. I enjoyed the forgotten vale and loved the new music in that massive area to explore to. --- Thorbald is old and fat! |
