make a Hardcore mode.
Like you literally need food or you will die, and you cant fast travel or anything. Haha it would be extreme to say if you die you have to restart

I wouldn't like Dead Is Dead, but I think it'd be pretty cool if it disabled autosaves. Would definitely make players have to be a bit more diligent in their saving. But to prevent excessive saving, it would be cool if they limited it to two saves per hour.

I don't know about dying and restarting, but having to eat to live would be cool. So much food in this game but it's useless. And no fast travel would be ok but I would probably tire of it.

I too want a real reason for all of this food. But a real challenge of Hardcore in FO was the ammo had weight. Sure, they could make arrows & bolts have weight; but who cares when the bound bow is the best ranged weapon in the game (in the context of DPS)? IIRC, those bound arrows don't even appear in your inventory when you've got the bound bow equipped.

I don't want a food bar from Minecraft or anything, but % penalty to health &/or health regen would be nice. Easily avoidable so long as my character eats a couple times per day.

What about sleeping? The only time I sleep is to initiate a certain quest. I don't bother myself with rested bonuses, but a mode that put limitations on you health/magic/stamina based on the quality of sleep seems about as appropriate as the need for food.

An optional mode like that would be fine.

I'm all for food and required eating.

Having to sleep would be nice. Lets say at least 5 hours during a 24 hour period. Not doing so would result in some type of hit to Stamina. Maybe a lower regen rate, or percentage loss of overall Stamina.

I'd like more HUD options. Like undiscovered locations don't show up on the compass at all. You have to actually get close enough to have them pop up as discovered. Then only discovered locations appear on the compass.

If they implement a Hardcore Mode in Fallout 4, I hope they make it variable, like Dead is Dead would be an optional feature, and a few of the other Hardcore features some of you are talking about are optional. That way some people can just ease into the whole Hardcore Mode thing.

Or how about they make it so that your character will automaticly eat food items in their inventory when needed, say if your hunger drops to below 25% and your character has a new item in his/her inventory, a waterskin, which can be refilled at water sources?

But as for dead is dead and no fast travel, no way. If I was in dead is dead mode and my level 50 character was deleted, I'd go kung fu on my xbox.

Baby steps.

Hardcore in NV was basically a minor annoyance, considering the abundance of food, water and beds in which you could sleep in. Ammo wasn't much of a factor once you had a safe place for storage and you stuck with 1-2 guns, and crippled limbs were also not much of a factor due to doctor bags being fairly common.

Hell, if anything, Skyrim would be worse for a hardcore mode. Lots of food, beds and plenty to drink, unlimited healing due to magic, various ways to avoid being over-encumbered... It's not exactly a survival game to begin with.

I really like this compass idea. Its probably doable on the PC with mods.
