I wont take light armor perks to make heavy armor. Its a dumb perk.

(deep breath)

can I loot/ buy the armor in the dlc? Im not overly concerned about smithing it up to max, I jus want to make sure I can find it once i start playing.

Also..is it ONLY available in DLC or does it integrate into the vanilla game?

Ta!

Yeah, you'll find random bandit chiefs wearing nordic armor.

Pretty much every bandit chief has that armor after the patch.

TC, why not just complete the Dragonborn main quest and select the perks needed to smith the armor up, then use a dragon soul to reapply the perks back to the heavy armor side of the smithing tree.

Yes. Once you beat the main storyline of Dragonborn, you will have the option to spend Dragon Souls to clear perk trees. 1 Soul reclaims all the perk points for the chosen tree. You can do this as many times as you want, provided you have the souls.

You can improve it without the perk. I have level 50 smithing (from building houses) with no perks and have a Nordic Carved set on that is rated higher than the cap of 567.
