How badly does no daytime mana regen on vampires hurt pure mage builds?

Am starting my High Elf pure mage soon, nothing what-so-ever but spells. Was wondering if going vamp would be worth it or not.

Not much at all. Well, after the first 20 levels anyway.

With necromage you'll be able to enchant so much regen on your armor/robes/jewelry that it won't matter anyways.

It hurts most early on, but it's remediable.
It helps to carry a ton of magicka potions, or by just traving at night.

Stunted regeneration is hardly an issue.
This weakness is completely blown out of proportion.
Vampires still regenerate magic, just at a very slow rate.

Dawnguard DLC also offers some small boosts to these things, if it is really an issue to the player.

-The Bloodstone Chalice will give vampire drain the ability to absorb health, stamina and magic.

-Ring of Erudite increases magic and magic regeneration. The effects work outside of being a vampire lord.

You wont get the magic regeneration in sunlight outside vampire lord form with ring of the Erudite. If you remove all mana regen items and perks and equip the ring, you will not regenerate mana.

Yes you will.
Ring of Erudite works outside vampire lord form.
Any addition of regeneration, no matter what the size, overrides stunted regeneration.
That is why the lady stone works for health/stamina.

As a vampire (non transformed), spent magic bar, in the daylight, wearing nothing...equip the ring and watch, the magic bar refills very very slowly. Not efficiently but it still regenerates.

You won't, actually.

As it says in the sticky, Ring of the Erudite works differently from normal fortify regen effects.

Normally, you regenerate 3% of your magicka per second. The ring bumps it up to 5%. This stat is called magickaratemult.

You have an additional stat that is at 100% by default. Having vampirism and being in the sun subtracts 100% from this, and enchants add to this. This is called magickarate.

So if magickarate is zero, anything that modifies magickaratemult will have no effect, because anything multiplied by zero is zero.

Then why do I still regenerate magic?
