posted this on PS3 board but i like sharing

I was bored so I decided to see how many items it took to level Smithing to 100

had the warrior's stone and lover's comfort on. started at lvl 20 Smithing

Gold Ingots first, tried both Gold Rings and Gold Amulets
Gold Rings
lvl 50: 119
lvl 70: 264
lvl 80: 365
lvl 90: 486
lvl 100: 632

Gold Amulet
lvl 50: 132
lvl 70: 294
lvl 80: 405
lvl 90: 541
lvl 100: 704

Using Gems and Gold Ingots
10 Flawless Diamonds
24 Diamonds
20 Emeralds
10 Flawless Rudys
21 Sapphires
517 Gold Ingots to hit lvl 100 Smithing

Leather used Leather Barcers
lvl 50: 248
lvl 70: 550
lvl 80: 758
lvl 90: 1013
lvl 100: 1321 Leather 2642 Leather strips

I was kind of shocked by the gems not saving you that much. Gold is rare unless you get the transmute spell. Mostmines respawn 10 or 30 days depending if they can be cleared or not.a small note it maybe just PS3 but when the mines respawn you may have to enter exit then enter again to mine the veins. Leather is cheap and everywhere Really EVERYWHERE deer, elk, saber cats, bears, and goats (sometimes) all Blacksmiths carry 14-20 on them and restock every 2 days

Dwarven Bow info.

again with Warrior Stone and Lover's Comfort i didnt do the lvls this time. I did my best to get to right at Level 30 Smithing with no extra xp.

took 675 Dwarven Ingot and 225 Iron ore.

The cheapest way i did this was make 225 bows first then upgrade them to get 100 Smithing. you should have like 2 bow left to upgrade if you didnt hit 100. If you use any Enchanting gear for Smithing you may use less Ingot

now where to get them Nchuand-Zel under Markarth has about 400 ingot most you have to smelt Dwemer items down to get them. Calcelmo has some for sell that respawn every 10 days :( sucks. Blacksmith carry 3-9 sometimes. Calcelmo museum has like 100~ but you have to steal them. and finally Mzulft has a store house with 30~

Not bad, I would have preferred you used well rested instead of lovers comfort but I can figure the % difference easy enough.

Dwarven ignots are the best, using leather to get to 30.

Agreed, though, good job.

Been wondering how many daggers it would take to get enchanting from 20 to 100 using mage stone and well rested. Ya up for the test?

I make it to be 202 to get from 15-100 with the Mage Stone and Lover's Comfort, 217 with Well Rested instead of Lover's Comfort. But as ashtardevo said, a lot of the experience comes from disenchanting.

I have started to level smithing up to 90 in minutes but it requires enchanting:

1.Save up around 175 iron/steel daggers you find on dead bodies and 175 filled soul gems of any kind.
2.Level enchanting by making banish daggers in Whiterun at Dragonsreach.
3.Every time you level up nip around the corner and get Eorland Greymaine to train you 5 levels of smithing, EASILY pay for this with the daggers you crafted.

You can level enchanting to 100 and smithing to 90 (Eorland takes you all the way to 90, it is expensive after 75 but the daggers easily pay him for the service as he is a vendor with your training gold going into his shop) very fast this way, doesn't work if you don't want to level enchanting though.

Personally I find smithing too easy a skill to level up to use training on. I'd much rather train in another skill but that's just me.

I was thinking in order to get a good, solid number with minimal variables and no marriage or guilds joined, disenchant one item prior to the marathon, preferably a turn undead.

I suggest a level 15 to start, disenchant turn undead weapon, activate the mage stone and get a well rested sleep bonus then begin.

That should give us a 'maximum' number, from which others could simply deduct a few if they disenchant other items or use lover's comfort.

Thanks for posting your results! Whether or not I grind, I still like knowing the quantities ahead of time should I decide too:)
