Erm i seem to be heaving trouble getting the whiterun house

Riften's house is fairly straight forward to get though. A few minor quests to gain fame and 1-2 quests from the jarl and you get the house.

yea i know i only use the whiterun house is because i go there near the start anyway

Just do not clear out Cragslane Cavern before you get the quest to do so. Just in case you didn't know.

Some quests are assigned a 'slot' in you list. If one is filled others with that 'slot' don't start. Try finishing some misc/bounty quests, you'll likely get it then.

Don't even have to be in Whiterun hold.

Thanks brian. I kinda deleted the save and started again lol but i will keep that in mind for next time if it happens.

If he isn't talking about Greybeards then maybe their earth shaking shout did not trigger on the way back to Whiterun. Try running around just outside the walls by the stables. I've never heard of it not triggering though. He proclaims you thane at the same time he tells you to climb the 7000 steps
