Is playing a mage that uses a dagger for poisons not playing a mage?

Some of the best Fantasy puts daggers in the hands of Mages.
It's standard, but I know you meant orthodox magic user characters...
I say USE 'EM!

well, this is pretty much exactly how elder scrolls mage's were before skyrim and it seems like now if you don't dualcast impact you aren't a destruction mage.

Staff of Chain Lightning is pretty good.

It can stagger multiple enemies at once if you take Agumented Shock 2/2.

Plus, the dragon priest mask from Dragonborn can boost it to do 75 damage.

yea, staves are awesome.

The way magic works, it looks like they intended for people to actually use staves this time around.

Only summon staves, paralyze staves, and chain light staves are really useful late in this game. Although early on any staff is useful.

Any mage worth his salt should always carry some sort of martial tool (traditionally a dagger) for those occasions when he finds himself out of magicka and has no active summons. Plus, if you want to use some Weakness to Magic poisons, how else are you going to get it into them?

Hey there, sweetroll; I just cast Oakflesh... if you know what I mean.
