So, how fun is the "Magic Tank" class? Shield + Destruction?

Being Skyrim's version of mobile artillery seems to be fairly amusing.

Meh, Destruction's plenty effective. Just gotta know how to use it.

I guess I can see how it seems like crap though since the majority of the people on this board will just exploit everything they can to get ridiculously OP gear as fast they can.

Hah.
Destructions a bit weird though as it's effectiveness is completely dependant on whether or not you have 100% destroc gear or not. I can see why people complain that destruction is UP when they don't have 100%, however when they do it's just a simple matter of spamming both triggers and stunlocking the enemy until dead.

Unfortunately, elderpredator, any style can get boring quick. Your idea is a good mix-up of the norm but it too shall get snoozy after awhile.

They need fishing in this game.

And gambling.

And a real graveyard for your followers.

That's one of my favorite character builds, its the one i chose to do dragonborn with after I had been away from skyrim for awhile.

I used alchemy instead of enchanting, but did eventually use restoration potion exploit to get a pair of enchanted guantlets that were useful to me, as none existed in the game that would really benefit this type of character other than fortify alchemy. (I did 50 magicka when i started seeing items that had a 50 magicka enchantment, and 70 magicka later on. nothing else)

I used alteration+ robes and whatever armor had the best enchantments, lol. I didn't perk any type of armor, instead relying on my shield for most of my defense.

restoration+destruction were my focus, stagger enemies with shield and mow them down with destruction. respite is just as awesome as it would be on a spellsword/battlemage.

Make use of cloak spells, spellbreaker+ward absorb

i can't think of anything else right this moment. I had a lot of fun with this build though, it works because you can regen magicka while hiding behind your shield, lol. A higher survivability spell sword, not as much offense though, lol.

Oh and I have since read that the build is known as a sorcerer.

Agreed. I actually like destro, but only when I commit to it as a primary and 2-handed attack method.

Quick question, i was going to try this, but hot keys auto swap to your left hand and remove your shield. Any way to avoid this?
