The Heartfire Housecarls as Stewards...

#1Pure_LionHeartPosted 3/26/2013 12:01:23 PM
Just a question since I'm not getting much information beyond a bug listing on UESP.

I had planned to make each Housecarl my Steward as well, but I'm reading that Gregor and Valdimar may go to different properties. From the sound of things, this is due to a huge patrol range, but I'm just wondering if anyone else using them as Steward knows if they, ya know, come back, or can be forced back by resting maybe, or anything like that?

Or are they both just doomed to disappear and making them Stewards is just going to screw me right the Hell over?

No...everything...all this! It was your fault!
If that's what you believe, than shoot me.

Looking at the talk page for Gregor it seems that he just ends up in a different player property. Like Lakeview Manor. Doesn't appear to be a fix.

Making your housecarl your steward always screws you over anyway, because where you could have had 2 people patrolling your property and helping keep your livestock alive during wolf attacks and bandit raids, you would only have 1.

I made Lydia my Lakeview Manor steward, and instantly regretted it.

I find it is best to leave each Housecarl in the hold where they were assigned to you.

That being said, I assume if you move your follower spouse into a HF home, assign the steward as a character from another hold and leaving your housecarl from the relevant hold permanently at home, purchase a horse, ride Shadowmere and bring a follower with you, you can have yourself and 6 others defending your property while you are there, more if you have quest related followers or used a multiple follower exploit.

Those giants, wolves, bandits and dragons do not stand a chance. Now, we must learn of a way to make our sons fight those pesky invaders with their daggers.

Yeah, think I'll pass on the previous plan and make some other choices.
Wonder if all three College Followers can be Stewards, that'd work out well.

Also, I'm starting to think I underestimated the homestead attacks. >_>

Brelyna and Onmund can be stewards.
The list of followers at UESP.net also tells you if they can become stewards.

Damn, J'zargo was the one I wanted the most.
Perhaps Illia then. Looks like that glitched status she has doesn't affect her Stewardship.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

I assure you, this is no game.

Agree with leaving housecarls alone - better to have more people around the property. Less glitch risk too: whenever I sleep in my bedroom bed at Lakeview, both housecarls from Heljarchen and Windstad show up in the entryway and then leave on a long walk home. Weird. Who knows where else they go.

Illia is a good choice as a steward because of her glitch - might as well have her around and useful in some way. Hopefully they'll fix her someday.
