5 cool things you probably didn't know about Skyrim

Hello everyone. Before citing the 5 cool things, a little background story. So if you just want to go to the main topic, skip the next 2 paragraphs.

Skyrim is the first Elder Scrolls game I ever played. Normally, medieval RPGs don't interest me, for stories, classes and themes normally differ very little from one game to another. I also have no love for Lord of the Rings and didn't like the micromanaging gameplay of Warcraft. That being said, I only picked Skyrim on a whim. One day, while watching game reviews on youtube, there was this game that IGN and Gamespot were getting all hyped about. Since everyone was always talking about oblivion, so naturally my though was "Why not, maybe it will give me something to do while waiting for Prototype 2".

And I have to admit, this is one of the most amazing games of all time. Never before have great gameplay, enormous customization and an amazingly weaved story come together in such a great way, especially not in a game of this size. Not once do you run out of interesting things to do, there are always more quests to complete, new ruins to explore and new ways to customize your character. So yes , I am a little obsessed with skyrim, in the same way that KOTOR II made a normal person into a Star Wars fan. So thanks Bethesda for such an awesome game.

Now then, on to the main reason you are here:

1- Necromage Vampire

It redefines the vampire playstyle, making it equal or superior to werewolves. The link below is to the first video in the series, with more in the description. The creator of the videos, pms00, is one of, if not the best source of Skyrim information on youtube:

2- Skyrim Perk Calculator

This amazing tool allows you to optimize character customization. Not only does it allow you to plan your while having a clear visualization of the progression trees, but it also allows you to save your builds. Never again will you have to type endlessly on the forums or have to write down your superbuild in a piece of paper, so easily lost.

3- Cooking is overpowered

Discover why Gordon Ramsay would be one of the most powerful warriors in Skyrim. Learn how cooking can be used to grant infinite power attacks for 12 minutes.

4- The skyrim blog

This blog has some of the most creative build and fan generated lore out there. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself. Here are 3 of their best builds:

- The Paladin (build details in the description):

The Utopian (ultimate hybrid build):

5- The best follower

Ever wonder who is the ultimate follower? pms00 explores this matter and explains how to draw out their true potential:

Hope everyone enjoys the videos.

You got me, I never saw that blog, since I don't read blogs. Here's 5 for you.

1) infinite sprint - tap L2 with a torch out.
2) Katariah was an empress of Cyrodil.
3) Hold down on the d pad and stick for fast menu scroll.
4) Lighter bows have shorter draw times
5) The cake is a lie.

There's a few more good ones I know, if you are interested.

1) Cool
2) Obscure reference, but it is in the book, The Armorer's Challenge
3) Did this once on accident but could never could figure out how. This will make not having hotkeys more bearable. Thanks.
4) Already knew it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TorcRKAQXLU

Really? Thanks. This is the first topic I ever made that got a sticky request.

6) You can hear the 'sweet spot' when picking locks. Sweep your pick slowly left to right (or whatever doesn't matter) and it'll make a metal crunchy grinding sound as it passes over the right place. Quicker to make the noise the higher your skill.

7) you can chop butterflies with a weapon, and they die leaving their wings behind.

8) You can wear two necklaces, and helmets with the right gear, Falmer helmet and circlet (Or others)... Need the glitched necromancer's ammy for necklaces.

I'm sure I'll think of some more.

I had that happen when I put on the full forbidden legend ammy while in a wardrobe screen. but that was in 1.3, and haven't been able to get 2 back on in 1.4 (haven't tried that hard tho).

As far as Skyrim goes:
You can stealth roll without the perk.
Stealth mode+sprint+sheathe button twice.

It's incredibly hard to do but with the archery perk that slows time or the slow time shout (not sure about the book perk) you can grab arrows being fired at you out of the air. Requires perfect timing but it is possible.

The Elder Scrolls in general:
Bosmer are cannibals, and are strictly forbidden to harm any plant life (means no harvesting Alch ingredients).

All of the Mer (elves) have a lifespan of roughly 1,000 years.

All Mer share a common ancestry. The Aldmer.

Nords believe they literally come from the sky (hence children of the sky) and consider themselves to be outsiders and invaders even in their own homeland.

The Bretons are essentially a crossbreed between the Altmer and the Nede (an ancient human race) which is what gives them their magical abilities.

Redguards do not trust magic users of any kind and consider them weak and cowardly. However there are those in the culture who use destruction magic; seeing it as a force of nature more than magical.

The Khajiit race (an argonian) existed in Tamriel even before the Mer.

Many Khajiit abhor the use of weaponry; favoring their claws instead.

I could give you fun-facts all day long.
