Fallout 3 , a 4 year old game, surpasses this by space miles

I didnt enjoy the combat AT all

it felt dull , and stiff

The leveling up system is good, and all but the story is just such a mess!

Bronze/15G: sit in a chair for 10 minutes. Silver/25G: run around in a circle for 6 hours.
Gold/75G: bang head against wall for 40 hours. Platinum: congrats?

Have you heard of an indie game in development called Chivalry: Medieval Warrior? The combat in that looks like what Skyrim's combat should have been.

Chivalry features swinging your weapon in first person, and landing it on key points on a character, you can instantly do a grievous blow or behead someone. Lighter weapons swing faster but have less of an impact, meaning you have to dig aim carefully for spots where your smaller weapon can reach vital spots on your opponent. Bigger weapons may be slower to swing, but you can crush your way through an enemy's shield.

Being able to adjust your swing, or your shield position, at any time makes it feels very intiative. I say keep an eye out on it.

i don't really see why skyrim's combat should be like that. it's not a medieval war sim or anything...
