Stealing Madesi's silver ring? Impossible!

#1PullTheTrickerPosted 11/17/2011 10:10:54 AM

I have to complete this qeust so the guy tells me where Esbern is.

Allright so heres the problem... sure I can lockpick madesi's box from behind the market stall. But to actually steal the silver ring, I need to be in front of the market stall, and too many people have visual on me, and I'm not a sneak specialist, I am Warrior, complete full heavy armor and a heavy two hander Axe.

Even if... its impossible to sneak and take the ring wheter in first person mode or third person. It don't matter, the camera has no reach once you sneak. But when I straight up steal it, the guards come and the ring gets removed. So how in Talos name do I complete this qeust?

Level your sneak.

It is designed as a trial. What business does a heavy armor warrior have joining the thieves guild if he has nothing to contribute.

I haven't done this quest yet, but why not do it at night when the market stall is empty?

To complete the quest, just talk to the guy who gave it, He will comment about how he didn't expect you to get pinched, and still give you the quest to get to the ragged flagon. He says you have Potential so its okay.

I made that mistake at first as well.

You don't want the ring that's in the display case, you want the ring that's in the lock box inside the stall. Go behind the stall and look near the bottom, there'll be a locked cabinet that you need to pick and inside there is a box that I believe you also have to pick to finally get at the ring.

Because you have to meet the Thieve's Guild guy during the day to do it. He creates a distraction to point everyone at him and away from you.

It's the at the bottom of the stall, locked with a door, then locked in a strongbox. Then you move behind some boxes where the target is sitting, hide properly and pickpocket the ring onto him.

I believe it's a daytime mission. Thief dude creates some kind of shamwow show for everyone so you can go behind the counter and steal the ring. Me, being the adventurer that I am, decided to sell something first while the shamwow show was going on.
As soon as I entered a building, I got the mission failed dialogue. However, the thief guy told me I had another chance to prove myself. The other chance though is less sneak oriented, so that's a viable choice for you.

FWIW, you don't even have to succeed. You can fail the quest, and still be able to continue with the Thieves Guild questline, AND be able to talk to him about Esbern afterwards.

I was forced to do this qeust coming from another qeust called a Cornnered Rat where Delphine sent me to Riften so I can locate this guy name ''Esbern''. But the dickhead didn't want to hand out free information ( I tried persuade and I have 52 speech but he didn't give a **** so I had to get my hands dirty for me.

Did you even read what I said? Sneaking specialist or not, I have plenty of sneak potions but they are useless when you can't reach the box from a sneaking position. The camera has no reach wheter in first or third person. You have to be standing up to be able to aim at the ring so that you can steal the damn thing. I tried sneaking and jumping but doesn't work. Even carried some buckets to stand on them but this **** is getting too desperate no matter how bugged a game can be.
