How to find quest ID?

#1MallacharPosted 11/20/2011 9:30:21 AM
So right now I am trying to find a way to fix Hjerim house. I wanted to use the console to complete the quest "Buy a house in Windhlem" and then use the console to give me the book and give me the key. Anyone know how to find out a quest ID so I can try it?

Go there, find the quest you want and the ID should be listed on the page, as of finding it in game idk.

What book are you trying to get?

That isn't working saddly.

And the book is the book that tells you how to decorate the house...

I haven't done the "Helm of Jarl" quest yet. I'm going to try this to0 see if that will unlock the house option.

I did find something useful for obtaining quest ID's. Hopefully this helps:

How to fix Buggy QuestsEdit
If a quest is bugged there are a number of ways to advance the quest line. Before you begin, save your

game!
In the command line type:

showquesttargets

You will see a list of IDs (something like MS01, MGR21, etc). These are the Quest Ids. Below those you

will see a "Target". These are the X/Y coordinates if you will of the actual Target/Event. The ID will be

in paranthesis (0001DACE, etc).

Example of showquesttargets:

Current Quest: MS01

2 Targets:

Target 1: Reference (0001DADA)

Target 2: Reference (0001DADF)

MS01 is the "Quest ID". You can, if you want, try and advance the quest line. I usually start in

increments of 10:

player.setstage MS01 10

And work my way up until it is completed.

To determine which Quest ID is the one you are on I had to do a little process of elimination.

If you find a Target ID (inside the Reference paranthesis above) you can move your player to it.

player.moveto <Target ID>

If you end up where you want to be the quest id is the ID above the target you just entered and now you

can try and advance the quest with the command above.
