bsa files and mods

#1mageki11aPosted 11/26/2011 7:54:57 AM
I'm trying to download retexture mods from skyrimnexus. It says to put the files in the textures folder, but the only texture file is textures.bsa. I heard that if you make a textures folder and put the files in there, the game will load those files instead of the ones in the .bsa file. Well I tried that, and it still doesn't load. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need another program to put the retextures into the .bsa file?

You're not doing it right unless you are pissing someone off.

I'm trying mods for the first time and I know what you mean. So many questions sometimes. Just be careful, sometimes the mods come with some negative effects, I've noticed.

The problem with that is that there wasn't a textures folder at all. There is a textures.bsa, but that's it, and I can't open that file to put the other textures in. Like I said before, I made a textures folder myself and put the mod files in there, but the game won't load them.

If the Textures folder is inside the Data Files folder, it should work...

What extensions do the files have and what mod is it?

Right now I'm just messing around with them right now. I have:

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1426 (don't judge me)

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1459&navtag=file/images.php?id=1459&tab=3

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/search.php

this is what my data folder looks like

If I make a Textures folder and put the files it, it doesn't do anything.

dude.

skyrim/DATA/textures/xxxfilesherexxx

in that folder you took a picture of, there should be a data folder. in that folder you make a textures folder.

if you can't understand that then there's nothing we can do.

It worked for me, and apparently everyone else. It should be like skyrim/data/textures/weapons or actors etc.

that pic was taken IN the data folder

from that folder, I made a Textures folder and put the textures in it. then I ran Skryim and clicked on the "load loose files" box, but the textures won't load
