I have a microsoft mobile 4000 mouse which i've binded the "z" button to the thumb button. Its working fine everywhere except in Skyrim, where it will fail to detect the button as the Z button. Anyone know how to fix this?

What's Z by default, shout/powers? I bound shout to M3, Activate to M4 and Auto-run to M5 just fine. Are you doing it through the in-game controls menu?

The way it sounds, it seems like your binding the key for your computer as a whole and not Skyrim specifically.
If thats the case... I don't think Skyrim will work with that. Skyrim seems to ignore and disable any "alternate function" button. For example, my keyboard has volume and play / pause buttons but if I'm playing Skyrim I can't use them at all, Skyrim blocks them from working.
Bind the button to the function you want via the in-game controls menu. --- Master of Electricity
