A little flashback for those who played Daggerfall, and to those new generations...

*opens Daggerfall manual*

[Talking about Dragons]

"...Explorers, sages, and archivists have argued for centuries over whether the great dragons of the legends still love, if in fact they ever existed. The people of the Alik'r Desert insist that their vast plain of sand is home to a multitude of Great Wyrms. Granting the nomads their propensity for tall tales, if they were a forsaken land where the great Dragons still fly undisturbed, it would indeed be the Alik'r Desert."

Personally, when I was trekking across the deserts, I did not see any dragons or hints of dragons. From the manual, it seems that Dragons were just legends and to most don't really exist. After I saw the trailer for Skyrim, I'm thinking "Ah yes, there they are! Welcome the dragons!"

It's beem known for quite some time. Tiner Septim once rode a dragon. Just three managed to challenge the entire empire.

Thought i read somewhere that all dragons were "devoured" by the Tsaeci. I also remember an addendum mentioning that 'devour' might have meant assimilate rather than the literal sense of the word.

There aren't suppose to be any dragons known throughout Nirn as we know it. The only exception is Tosh Roka, the kitty cat leader who decided it would be neat-o to turn into a dragon.

Once Tosh Roka ascended into a dragon, the tiger people began waging a more ferocious war against the Tsaeci. The most impactful quote was that, once Tosh Roka and his kind conquered the Tsaeci and Akavir itself, Tamriel and its inhabitants were next.

So as far as i've ever read and heard, Tosh Roka is the only dragon known to exist now(assuming he is, in fact, a true dragon).

Yeah, Mysterious Akavir claims that that he's the only dragon left in the world, but the trailer makes it seem like the dragon in it is petrified or something and comes back to life, which is something that would probably be presumed dead by most people.

All the black dragons were assumed to be dead. Note that the dragon in the teaser is a black one. :3

Red ones helped the Empire through whatever method Talos used, but who knows where they are now.
Some theorise that the Greybeards are where the red dragons have been hiding from the world, with their vows of pacifism.

Is that the dragon in the skyrim trailer?

I highly doubt it.

The dragon might be an old 'real' dragon that may have went into hibernation before the dragons were 'devoured'. I honestly have no idea.

Tosh Raka is reported to be a tiger-striped, orange and black dragon.

Was the dragon in the trailer tiger-striped? No.

In all fairness he didn't have a color. He was stone. You'll notice the flames (which would be orange/yellow) were the same color as everything else...

Also, it was just a trailer so there was hardly any details to go on AT ALL.

I'm voting on a surviving black dragon. The smartest one obviously, since he had enough sense to haul ass outta Akavir when the **** hit the fan.
