Why can't i launch the game?

it's been working fine so far but now every time i click play on the launcher it says steam is asking for permission, and if i give it permission it just re opens the launcher again never letting me play, is this a known issue or is my copy just screwed up?

new steam update screwed over anyone who used the large address enabled patch (aka the 4gb ram patch).

this should work, though i haven't tried it yet since i'm still at work:

I haven't downloaded any patches not supplied through steam, was this the one i was forced to download on day one?

I'm having the same problem the "launcher" loads and then I click play and endless loop of it restarting so is this a steam thing that should be fixed ?

Same. I don't see why I HAVE to use steam, I bought the disc at a gamestop BECAUSE I didn't want to go through BS like this.

This worked for me -
1) Start up Steam
2) Go to library, right click on Skyrim, click properties
3) Go to the local files tab, and click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache

Wait for that to finish then try playing again

Check your Steam/steamapps/skyrim directory....is there a file named TESV.exe!?!?

 

For me the problem was simple:  Instead of updating TESV.exe,  Steam simply deleted the file completely.

 

I now have no TESV.exe file anywhere on my PC.  What's worse?  Downloading a new one and putting it in the skyrim folder doesn't work.  Steam doesn't seem to wanna patch the file a second time.
