Goldenglow Estate. [SPOILERS]

I've not long taken the Deeds for the Goldenglow Estate and it's now mine. Cool as it may be, the place is totally gutted. I stole everything thinking I would never come back here, or that it would be taken over by Maven Black-Briar or something.

Also there are no Guards. You would think that it would populate the area with a few of my own personal Guards at least. The place feels like a ghost town.

Weirdly, Aringoth is still there! Cowering in the corner of the master bedroom upstairs. Bloody weirdo lol.

Is there a way to make the place look more inhabitable again? Either through Mods or the console? I know you can add NPCs, but will they stay in the place you spawn them, or do they walk around as normal?

Would be nice to bring a bit of life back to the place, then I might move there from Riften.

I would recommend against building entire new areas with the console, as I've come across a few glitches where items vanish from the basement that I added into Proudspire Manor. Oh, and get Fallout Mod Manager, so that you can open skyrim.esm up in TESsnip and lookup the base objectid of things that you see ingame. It will save you hours of trial and error with the short item descriptions.

Awesome! Thank you very much for that =) It will be nice to make the place look lived in once again. I might even keep Aringoth in the corner lol. Wonder if I could move him to the Basement? Keep him as a prisoner lol.

Try disable and then enable on him. Might fix him. Or you could delete him and spawn a new copy of him in a cage or something.

Yeah, I did try disable / enable. First thing I tried when I went to have a look around at the place. I'll try deleting him, see whether he stands up or not.

Just turning the Codes for Items into a .txt, easier to see on the other monitor for when I'm offline. Will be cool to kit this place out, it's by far the coolest place to own that I've seen so far. And I'm not a huge fan of being Thane, so this will work out perfectly.

After having a go at placing some furniture around, I'll try and populate the Estate with some generic NPCs. Already got plenty of Codes for them.

Another question lol. When you spawn an NPC, will they have a routine or just stand there aimlessly?

Sorry for all the questions, I know I could just try this out but I'm having a break and some lunch so not planning to try this until a bit later on.

Goldenglow Estate is not "yours" even though you attain the deed for it during a quest. It's not a player owned home, and as such, you should not store items anywhere inside of it because they will eventually disappear.

Proof of this is if you go an get married, then talk to your new spouse about where you want to live, Goldenglow Estate is not one of the options to choose from, even after doing that quest and attaining the deed for the property.

Can you change ownership through the Console in some way? If I add containers inside of the main building and set the ownership of Chests etc to mine, will things still vanish?

setownership and setcellownership only deals with whether or things you are picking up is considered stealing or not. It doesn't cause a house or container to become player owned and keep respawning from occurring.

If you use setownership on a chest, all that means is you can take the items from inside of it and they will not be flagged as stolen. Same for houses/cells.
