There is no shame in enjoying mods that break the game. So long as it is fun, why not? I appreciate authors of mods for what they have done. Game is made for fun.

I'm not disputing that, in fact I always say play how you want, but people really should be aware of what they're getting into is all.

You are aware that any type of overhaul will break your game

If this were the case, then why are the overhauls among the most popular mods out there? If they were as gamebreaking as you claim, people would stop using them.

Except he's talking about breaking the game in the context of rendering the game unplayable. If the mods did that, as he claims, people wouldn't use them.

Then it is not our place to say that. Everything comes with a risk.

It's not our place to say what, exactly? He's wrong.

The mods don't break people's games unless improperly installed. createdforthis is deliberately spreading false information.

Yes. That's my point.
Not our place to say that mod breaks the game.

That's not entirely true, bad mods do. His problem is that he thinks basically every mod is a bad mod.

I don't use mods when I play which explains why I don't have problems with my game

From: createdforthis
I am level 57 constantly going into and out of a bunch of towns, and I have never ever had any courier that delivers any message from a Jarl come up to me, and I sure as hell have never ever encountered anything dealing with adoption.

The courier never showed up to inform you about adoption? A courier didn't deliver you a letter about purchasing property?

Well well well... looks like something that was supposed to happen in the game didn't happen. But how is this possible to have a problem with your game even though you're not using mods?

Which one are you lying about? Not having the quests trigger, never using mods, or never having problems with your game?

Ignore createdforthis. I have around 120+ mods installed (NMM has 165 for index, but a few of em are repeats or patches), and I very rarely have issues with my game. In my 80 hours of playtime on my current character, I've run into three "gamebreaking" glitches, two of which were Bethesda's fault, one of which was due to me having an outdated mod (FNIS), and all I had to do was update it to the current version and it was fixed.

Download what you want, install what you want. In the end, it's your game, and if it breaks then **** happens. Just be sure to always make a clean character when installing overhauls and other big mods (like SkyRe for example), and create a backup save whenever you install another big mod, that isn't an overhaul (overhaul as in, changes the perk trees around, or changes how you get stat points upon leveling, stuff like that)

As for perk overhauls, I use SkyRe personally, and it's a lot of fun. He set it up so it's basically required to have Uncapper though, so if you don't feel like going beyond the 100 stat limit, then you should find something else. You should get Apocalypse spells to go with it, it's a wonderful mod for mages. I was against it at first (I figured Apocalypse = OP), but after testing it, it's wonderfully balanced. The spells are the right balance between power and magicka cost, so if you want to pump out a bunch of spells, you're going to take a hit to your stamina/hp pool, because you need to get as much magicka as possible (or potions).

Oh I forgot to add, if createdforthis is legit about couriers not showing up or whatever, just make sure you follow the directions for the mods you get. Always check to see if the mod was updated recently (I tend to ignore mods that haven't been updated since the start of 2013). Always read the installation instructions (most time's it's as simple as loading it with NMM), and if you're going to uninstall it, read those too. If you're going to go on a mod spree, get a few activated with NMM, then start the game and load a save, then exit out and load the next batch (just to be safe). If you do have issues in-game, google the issue and you'll probably be able to find a solution. Don't just uninstall all your mods, as it'll probably end up breaking your save.

Though beware, heaps of links that can keep you reading a good portion of a day.

ACE magic is designed to be used with a real magic overhaul, so that alone will likely not be enough.

Beyond that, read descriptions and decide for yourself.
