What should return for Elder Scrolls VI?

There is no doubt that with each game in the series, the series has dropped a number of things that role players enjoy.

For example, compasses and hand holding--sure, you can mod those out, but the game characters no longer give you directions. I remember in Morrowind when you'd get directions to a place--they were confusing, hard to follow, and a lot like trying to find things in real life without a GPS. I loved it. I wish we could get that sense of wonder back.

Or walking along a path and hearing the thump of those scrib creatures as they plodded around. That was great atmosphere.

The newer games may have bigger worlds (I'm not certain of that though), but they feel smaller because of things like GPS quests, and so on. I'd love for Elder Scrolls to give us the option for exploration like the old ones. Quest givers give directions so you can feasibly find things without a GPS map marker.

What else would you like to see return?

As long as they keep the current level up system, instead of making you pick your major/minors at the start I'll be mostly happy.

The ability to fight while in water.

I don't understand the love for spears. They are not a weapon typically used outside of mounted combat (i.e., lances) or massed infantry formations. They are not that practical for a main use solo weapon -- especially given how many creatures are immune to piercing damage.

everything and then some. climbing would be especially useful to give sneaks and warrior types a way to reach places mages could reach with levitation or similar.

you can use certain weapons in water... on the surface anyway, didn't try underwater, just found it last time i was playing so i didn't test whatall you can use yet, but you can use bows (shot a dragon from the river the dragonbridge crosses with a bow) it would be cool if argonians at least can fight underwater in 6 though.
