No rush. Just any time within the next five seconds will do. :3
I kid. Really, it's no huge rush. As much as I'd really appreciate seeing your tests, I'm going to have to ask others to confirm, too, so this isn't exactly something that must be identified right away.

Someone who has a better understanding of chaining mechanics will surely present a better explanation. There must be something more to it that eludes me.

If possible I´ll make a couple of Gil Farming videos and compare times between Blue and both versions of CB, if all goes well with UPS my PVR will arrive today or tomorrow.

A vid would be great, 'cause people have done some calculations in the past and assumed that one was greater than the other, but concrete evidence was never presented, as far as I saw.

Also, because of the differences in ATB upgrades, it's probably best if you test a Lv70+ Blue Chocobo for 5 ATB + RAVBBII and 6 ATB + RAVBB in addition to the Lv15-29 one for 4 ATB and RAVBB, just to be sure.

When you're done, it'd be great to compare the best Blue Chocobo to RAV Lightning.

Haven´t got a RAV Lightning built, I´m going for a perfect Lv1 Crystal, it will take some time.

I´m assuming Ligthning is a great RAV because she is TEMDCF´s choice for the majority of his videos but I tend not to use DLC monsters.

You´re being thorough Noah, have you performed some tests yourself?

Cloudburst is easy to rebuild because we can buy the materials, on the other hand Blue Chocobo requires some farming.

Nope. I didn't even get to finish getting all the fragments; my friend that I was borrowing an XBox 360 from went bat-**** crazy, and I haven't been able to play the game since. This was back around Thread 2's or 3's era, to give you some perspective. That's why, despite my rather accurate guesswork and theorycrafting, I am so dependent on others to test for me.

Blue Chocobo's mats can be bought, too. That's why I suggested stopping around Lv70 for it; that's at the end of stage 4 and thereby the end of the grade 4 mats, right when you've gotten RAV Bonus Boost and 5 ATB, and you have to choose between that last ATB segment or the upgraded role bonus. Of course, you're not necessarily building these to keep, anyway; you can just buy Potent Crystals if you want it to be at a higher level, if you're on a different save file or don't mind the cost.

Oh, by the way, since RAV Bonus Boost also applies to allies, these tests should all be done with Serah and Noel equipped with the same stuff (Odinweaps, then another test with ATB +50%, then another with Chain Bonus Boost Lv5, if you're feeling ambitious enough to test all the circumstances to see where the ally bonus applies the best) and helping the RAV to chain. I mean, if that extra ATB results in 1% better chaining for the monster alone, but RAV Bonus Boost improves the overall chain time by 3%, that's something that we need to know.

Tri-Disaster scenario:

Gandiva / Grasitha for improved chaining ;

Indrajit / Romulus & Remus for increased ATB speed ;

Sagittarius / Mac & Luin for an extra ATB segment ;

I can´t see how the other weapons may improve chaining.

Right. I suggested the Odinweaps specifically because they won't change anything; they're the "control" group.

If I´m not mistaken, unlike Role Bonus Boost, the boost from CBB Lv? weapons only applies to whom equips it. ( that´s a lot of boosts )

If we are testing a specific monster build Chaining potential, Patient Probing is a reliable option.

Yes, I'm aware. But does it stack multiplicatively or additively with the bonuses (inclusive of ally bonuses, which is what we're referring to) of RAV Bonus Boosts? We won't be able to find the answer without some uber-extensive testing, but that's okay. The point is that, if it's additive, the ally boost from RAVBBII on Blue may or may not be worthwhile. If it's multiplicative, it's almost certainly worthwhile. Hence, individual tests with Gandiva+Grasitha are to be performed with RAVBBII, then 6 ATB (or vice versa), the same with Odinweaps (or other control group, even as low as starting weaps), the same with ATB +50% weaps (in case the higher attack frequency of the humans makes the ally bonus worthwhile enough), and the same with the ATB +1 weaps (If the ATB +50% weaps push you over the edge, will the ATB +1 weaps do so, too?).
