For me, underrated would be XII and 13. 12 because while it got mostly positive reception it is often swept away because of its more political storyline (which I don't think is THAT political), and Vaan not being really connected to the plot . However the storyline to me was easy to understand, and the writing is brilliant. Usually if somebody says the series died, they say it did at X. First, I don't believe the series was dead, but 12 was an incredible game and I believe that is just bandwagon. In the end, the story is memorable, and the characters are easy to love, even if they aren't 100% relative to the plot.
As for XIII, (cast barfire), let's face it. IMO is is not underrated, it is more OVERHATED. Seriously, yes I know it was disappointing, but still, it is better than the first 3 final fantasies. Also, people say "It is a horrible game", or "It is the worse game I ever played). That is an exaggeration. It may be a mediocre FF, but if you removed that label it would still be a good game. It just gets hated for being in the FF family. That being said I am not saying it deserves much more praise. Rather, the excessive hate needs to drop.
Finally for overrated, I said 4, (though 7 is the most overrated, but didn't list it for reasons above). I am going to take out biasim that I didn't like it, and the only FF that I haven't brought myself to finish as it is difficult to play because of the battles, but I never saw why it was so great to people. Mind you, I am not saying the game sucks, or disrespecting opinions. But I felt the plot relies to much on surprise, and I made it to final dungeon, so I have played 97% of it. I just don't like how you don't have a main cast until the end of your game, and the ridiculous amount of plot twists make it bad. That and Cecil, make it overrated.
That being said, 90% of us can agree that 7 is the most overrated. Yes, it is a good game, but we all know it gets to hyped for what it is. It isn't THAT great, but it still is a great game, just nothing worth raising to a tier above all the other FF's

Overrated?
Most people are just blurting out that VII is overrated these days. I'm not saying that it isn't, just that people are too quick to jump on the "omg overrated" bandwagon just because.
Personally I find VI to be a lot more overrated then VII. Not badī- derp - at all, just... well, you've all seen the VI people.

Gameplay: The best in the series. I hate the "The gambits do everything!" excuse, because you still have to be on your toes. That and gambits weren't that helpful where it fought a whole battle, especially when you have to intervene to heal.
Writing:Fantastic
Story: Pretty solid, some might want more but most will enjoy
Really it just gets bashed because of gambits, the slightly political story, and Vaan. But if the story and gameplay is good that all that should matter. |

Personally I find VI to be a lot more overrated then VII. Not badī- derp - at all, just... well, you've all seen the VI people. My opinion exactly. Underrated- XII Overrated- VI definitely; I mean yes, VII is overrated as well, but I have seen SO many more rampant VI fanboys these days saying stuff like "VI has the best cast; it's so developed because of how big the cast is." and "Oh VI is such a challenge, you have to press more than X." Lol pls. I mean don't get me wrong VI is a good game, but it doesn't really deserve ALL the praise. --- ~Lady Tokimi~ |
