Should I still buy this game even though there's only two playable characters?

Hi, I just recently completed FF13 last week and I thought that I should buy this game however after some researching I found out that only 2 people are playable throughout the game.

Now I'm kind of upset and think that it will be boring. I mean I enjoyed 13-1's way of letting us play as all characters since that's the point of a 'role-playing-game (RPG)' right?

So is there anything that you guys(who have played it already) could tell me that's great about this game and will make me buy it despite only 2 playable characters?

RPG has nothing to do with the amount of characters you can control

While the two are the only ones you directly control, you do get a 3rd party slot for a monster and can chose what kind of monster goes there to help your team out.

I'm just a dirty little pop song, that keeps running through your brain. And even though you know its so wrong you're gonna love going insane.

The game is good. If you liked the previous game, I reckon you would like this one as well. Infusing monsters to other monsters and powering up your monsters are very addictive.

The fact that there are only two playable characters is one of the worst things abou this game. I wonder what the hell Square was thinking. Still a better game than x-2. Piece of ****.

It took me three playthroughs to realize Harbinger was a reaper
If you dislike FFXIII, you're an idiot.

You'll be happy to know that Lightning Returns ONLY has Lightning in the party, then.

I can just imagine Square's trollface at the moment. Excuse me, I'm going back to playing FF9. -_-

Even Crisis Core. There is only one playable character.

it's funny... FF13 had 6 playable characters, and yet I only used 3 unless forced otherwise.

I didn't find it a problem in this game at all.

I don't think people like you even PLAYED X-2, to be honest. For some reason that game garnered and extreme amount of hate for little to no reason. It wasn't the best game ever by any stretch, but it was a good game with perhaps the best turn based combat system to grace an RPG. I wasn't super-fond of the dress-sphere system, but it did what it was supposed to, brought mid-combat interchangable job classes to the system.

On topic, only two playable characters is a bit of a misnomer. If you are looking at it that way then XIII only had ONE playable character. Rather the third spot in XIII-2 is a revolving door, and you can stick whatever monster suits your needs in it. That being said if you aren't fond of capturing and strengthening the monsters, then that's going to be a large detriment to your enjoyment.

Alright thanks for the responses guys.

^Hmm about the third slot..you said that its a revolving door right? Are they always monsters? Or will there be different people that sometimes take up the slot for certain chapters?

They are all treated as monsters, but you can get some (through DLC) characters, such as Sazh, to fill one of the slots.
