What's a good lategame paradigm pack (no DLC)?
COM - Chichu/Cactuar
RAV - Blue Chocobo/Cloudburst
SYN - Purple Chocobo/Yakshini
This is pretty much what I run all the time.
I guess I'll go with Red, White and Blue Choco, pack mentality on red and blue.
Still biased against buffs? Purple Chocobo happens to be the best SYN for normal use. It's far more worthy of your investment time than White Chocobo. A little investment will allow you to more than triple the damage that your Red Chocobo deals, and that's a stronger effect than you can get out of its base stats/ability tweaking (plus it compounds with those effects).
Keep in mind that Noel and Serah can also benefit from those buffs. Those multipliers can apply to more than one member at once. Also MEDs are virtually never a requirement at lategame stage.
One reason I refuse buffs is cause I am so pissed at the changes,
I just got to Academia 500 and meds are extremely important.
Or rather, how the f*** can meds become virtually unimportant when the only alternative way of healing is pathetic potions?
Anyway, I'd say my situation has changed. The save editor works and thus allows me to ignore hp/mag/str and atb.
It also allows me to get any monster I want, quickly lvl it up and farm, the abilities.
But I cannot directly change abilities.
Thus, I will stick to Flanitor as med because his only problem was low HP (Hyper Rescue may be only a free curasa but it is used while the enemy cannot act and with good mag it is a life saver, including stuff like Feral Speed Max it's extremely useful).
Haven't decided on RAV and COM though.
As it's easy now I guess I'll just get a monster for every role (and maybe tailor me some monsters for special bosses later).
Though as of now I still use my default Flanitor (not squishy anymore cause finally the shop sells items I can feed him at lvl 21), my Buckaboo lvl 4 and my maxed Dragoon.
Not gonna use my dream team before the final boss and postgame.
The game isn't that hard besides a few difficulty spikes and using the dream team now is just boring.
Is there a good list of monster abilities that is sort by ability and not by monster?
I could use the ign monster list but that would require opening the page for each individual monster to check abilities I may infuse.
If you don't want to use buffs, cool. But if you're just pissed about them, I'd appreciate it if you stopped making claims like "buffs are pointless" or "not worth the effort," because those claims are demonstrably false.
I'm not sure what MightGeb meant exactly, but I will say that MED monsters are never a requirement; Serah and Noel are more than capable as healers. Also, Potions with Grimoire Hat are anything but pathetic.
Well, potions may be better than before but not really that much, still cannot compare to med skills.
Anyway, I changed my mind again. Tried out Chichu and Cloudburst just to see if the save editor works and I don't really ,mind the looks. Not ,like you can see all that much during battles anyway.
I'll delete them cause I had to manually input some stats for them (editor work,s by putting everything with stats in your pack and taking everything with only 0 stats out of the pack).
And I kinda feel like doing some hunting and exploring.
Though, I'm not gonna spend that much time. When I get bored of the hunt I'll use the editor again.
Still sticking to high hp Flanitor however. I fell in love with Hyper Rescue.

I'll stop you right there. Durable Grimoire Hat + Potions = Best Healing In The Game. PERIOD. Maybe not necessarily by raw numbers, but the amount healed compared to the time it takes and the resources used, potions are better, hands-down.
