Just started this after not really enjoying 13

I enjoyed XIII more, both the story and characters (and that you can play more than 2). Sazh is my #1, most interesting character in XIII or 2 IMO, I liked his story and how he plays too. I do however, like how 2 added monsters amongst other things.

Edit: Also, I like XIII difficulty over XIII-2's.
I wonder what they'll do for Lightning Returns.

I also enjoyed XIII-2 a lot more than XIII. They fixed a lot of the things I didn't like in XIII. Such as having too many party members and that dreaded weapon upgrade system. I also didn't like how XIII lacked a new game+. I was one of the people that screwed themselves out of the platinum trophy by selling accessories. Storywise I might have to give the edge to XIII though.

sab is now very situational use.

syn is ok but only when the syn has very narrow skillset. or if manual control (defensive syn).

so I agree with Moomba33.

Is a shame really eg. if you check this.

It does indeed fit most RPGs but was a problem they fixed in FF13. But it seems square enix may have not liked people were actually using debuffs/buffs a lot and they now far less useful in ff13-2 due to combination of broken AI, nerfed abilities, removed randomness from sab success rate.

Too many party members?...no.
And the amount in 13 = better. Only 2 in XIII-2 is way too low.

I respect your opinion, but I like small parties. I'm going to love having only one party member in LR.

Yeah, Lightning will be the only playable party member but Toriyama has contemplated having someone accompany her at different parts of the game. Like an AI ally, though nothing further has been mentioned.
