*facepalm*

If Vita Sold over 500k in it's first week in Japan alone (which you article seems to indicate) that would make it the biggest launch of any portable ever released in that area. Ever. Bar none.

From a very reliable source, ScrewAttack confirmed it wasnt selling so good in Japan, The PS Vita is hardly selling out of stock, 85% for th Wifi, and 55% fo the 3G model, but memory card are selling like crazy, however, owners reporting poor wifi connection and freezing while updating and playing games, Sony recommended doing hard reset of the handheld, but some japanese gamers have found out that they arent able to turn it back on afterwards
Which is actually a new feature called; this is probably a mistake you should return this while you still can feature

if 3 times the amount the psp sold isa flop then yes it flopped. The Xbox 360 flopped in Japan. Selling nearly as much as a HUGE competitor and tripling the sales of an original system is FAR from flopping.
