TL;DR: There weren't large numbers of Vitas with problems. Sony didn't even apologize for anything.

Apparently all those lies were fabricated by anti-Sony Chinese trolls.

Sony didn't apologize for that. They apologized for some comments about the poor customer support some users received. They never apologized for issues with the Vita.
