have you tried it? plastic wrap is a great and convenient alternative for the time being. it works with the touchscreen plus you wont be directly touching the screen. ive done it countless times with my ipod touch and psp as i was waiting for my screen protectors to come in

you could use a zip-loc baggie, as a bonus you could play in the rain

I haven't tried it, but that actually sounds like a good idea. Might be awkward and uncomfortable but... it'll work.
