GuitaristMattPosted 7/14/2012 10:53:00 PM | So if Kingdom Hearts 3D is supposedly the same quality graphics as Kingdom Hearts on the PS2 ~ and other game examples, and the vita is more powerful. What exactly are the limitations of this machine? --- "Fools set the rules in this world. Just take a look around. It's Undeniable." Self Proclaimed Matt of your board |
vidalmorazaPosted 7/14/2012 11:12:59 PM | KH producer said that time, effort and people developing a Vita game is high, so they rather work in the PS3 or Xbox, with already an install base of millions, than a new system that is having low sales...

Starwars4JPosted 7/14/2012 11:49:43 PM | Because one is a port and you're talking about emulation? The 3DS is immensely more powerful than the PS2, as is the Vita. The Vita could also easily handle PS2 ports, but that's not what anyone's talking about here >_> --- What I can't get over is how she ripped one testicle off..~Frogstir I can't read your topics without expecting Bel Air now.~KensaiBlade |

3DS games are more "easy" to make.... Just for clarification's sake, he never said that he wouldn't put a KH game on Vita, he just said it's almost like developing for a console game, so it would make more sense to have it on a console. That could also mean multiplatform. |
GuitaristMatt (Topic Creator) Posted 7/15/2012 9:27:20 PM | I was just using Kingdom Hearts as an example, as it has been ported to a system with lower capabilities than the vita, yet it has PS2-like graphics. --- "Fools set the rules in this world. ITPPosted 7/15/2012 10:07:13 PM | But you're missing the point.
Porting means to adjust a games code and resources from one platform to another.
This could take as little as days, or as much as a year or more. And this is per game.
Emulation means to create a virtual environment that simulates the original hardware the game was meant for, therefore eliminating the need to port it.
No one doubts the Vita can easily run ported versions of every ps2 game in existence. But porting each game takes a lot of time and resources that could else wise be used for developing new games.
Emulation on the other hand, takes a huge amount of resources, sometimes ten times what the original hardware had, which is why there're no PS2 classics on the Vita yet. |
