SCEA Boss Tretton feeling uneasy on Vita's retail performance

Even he's worried. Should we be worried too?

these execs tend to be overly optimistic about anything dealing with their own company, so when he says "acceptable" it seems like he's trying to make the best of a bad situation.

When pressed about Vita’s performance, Tretton said that Sony has so far sold an “acceptable” number of its successor to PSP, with the caveat that he’d be “happier” if sales were “triple” what they are. “If it was one-third,” on the other hand, “I’d be disappointed.”

so, he says acceptable, and you try to twist his words to mean worrying? okay.

If even after PR-spinning it is still only "acceptable", then yeah, it's worrying. Besides, we have the MC and NPD data. They are indeed worrying.

Bud, hate to knock on the Vita, but if a Sony guy is saying acceptable that is not reassuring in the slightest. Surely by now you know how the business world really works?

If a PR guy says that things are "acceptable", that means that he is pooping in his pants.

If things really were acceptable, he would be saying something like "fantastic" or "phenomenal".

after the psp and ps3's early days, i wholeheartedly believe sony when they say they're not really concerned by their sales. add the fact that they're doing next to no advertising, and it really does seem like they're not worrying at all. i wouldn't believe it myself if i hadn't seen it before, and wasn't seeing it now with my own eyes.

lol. Mark my words, this will be natureboy's go-to quote as proof the Vita is selling fine. He has me on ignore, too, so we can catch him in the act. Nobody quote this!
