Why should I buy a Vita instead of a 3DS?

On my Vita I have MGS (q)HD collection, Disgaea 3:AoD, and Gravity Rush.

^ That, you should check out the games TC and make your decision, there is also Uncharted, Mortal Kombat & BlazBlue & UMVC3.
Edit : Oh, and I have Disgaea 3 and MGS HD collection.

I haven't liked Mario since Mario 64, I just feel the series grew stale at that point.

And unless you live in Japan, there's not much besides Mario at this point.

There's RE:R and Kid Icarus(Which has awful controls) but other than that it's just Mario.

On my Vita I have MGS (q)HD collection, Disgaea 3:AoD, and Gravity Rush.

Persona 4:Golden, Ragnarok Odyssey, Dokuro, New Little Kings Story, Guacamelee, AC3:Liberation, and Zero Escape all look good for this year also.

Also not true.Lol the ignorance is strong in this topic.Someone forgot Kingdom Hearts, Castlevania, Theatrhythm, etc..

Kingdom Hearts has such a convulted story that even Evangelion admires it for it's ambiguity, won't touch it for this reason alone.

The 3DS Castlevania game also looks awful.

Theatrhythm WAS OK, A 6.5 out of 10 games, rented it from gamefly and enjoyed it for a brief period of time.

Yeah it appears that so far the main responses are "think for yourself dummy", "vita has no games", and "3DS has no games".

@mhunterchump: I wasn't asking for children to make ignorant statements in this topic but thanks for your lack of input. Its responses like yours that would keep me from posting on this board even if I had a Vita. Have fun at junior high tomorrow.

When it comes to RPG's, I believe the 3DS has the slight edge. Shin Megami Tensei IV, Etrian Odyssey IV, Code of Princess, Paper Mario, Kingdom Hearts 3D and Rune Factory IV are definitely games to look out for. There's also Tales of the Abyss which is a PS2 port, but it's a fantastic game.

Because of backwards compatibility, you'll have the entire DS library to play, too (and I believe that the DS has a very solid library of games for many genres, especially RPG's). I highly recommend Dragon Quest IV, V VI and IX, Radiant Historia, Contact, Devil Survivor 1 + 2, Etrian Odyssey I, II and III, Chrono Trigger and the Castlevania games.

For the Vita I'm really looking forward to Persona 4, Ys IV and the Final Fantasy X remake. Now...can anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I hear that backwards compatibility is a little more tricky for Vita users because it can't play UMD's, only PSN PSP games.
Either way, the PSP library is also amazing, and although it doesn't have as many games as the DS that interest me, it still has amazing games such as The Legend of Heroes I, II, II + Trails, Ys Seven, Ys 1 + 2 Chronicles, Star Ocean 1 + 2, Final Fantasy I, II + IV:CC, Persona 1, 2 and 3 and Valkyrie Profile. There's also a very large handful of PS1 games too, which ALSO has a fantastic library.

You're going to be getting some amazing games on both systems, it just depends on what specific games interests you the most. I'm personally still hooked on the PSP and DS because of the sheer number of games I still need to play, though I seriously can't wait for Shin Megami Tensei IV, Rune Factory IV and Ys IV (woah all 4).

Anyway, I hope I helped! : )

Seriously, don't people think for themselves anymore?

I think he's just asking for thoughts from Vita owners. I don't see how asking other people for an opinion all the sudden constitutes as being able to not think for one's self. Never read a review or asked someone how they liked something before?

On topic, personally, I would probably still recommend the 3DS because it can play DS games and you can buy an XL cheaper than the Vita. The Vita is absolutely worth owning, but personally until Sony offers a price drop or more game selection, I would not choose it over the 3DS XL. If you can buy both at some point, you'll be really happy.

No, he clearly says "Sell me" which doesn't mean "tell me your opinion."

To answer your question about reading reviews or asking someone if they liked something before...Yes, I do my research, but I have never been so lazy to say "Sell me" on this product because I don't wanna do the research and see if its something I will like.

This board has a million topics of people saying "sell me" or "convince me." IF you don't see these topics as people not thinking for themselves, then so be it. But TC clearly wants this thread to make his decision for him/her.

You got a real answer, get which one interests you more. Which one has games you are more likely to enjoy? Vita or 3DS? If the answer is Vita, get a Vita, if the answer is the 3DS get the 3DS.

There aren't any Vita RPGs unless you count Disgaea 3.

If you just want to play PS1 and PSP rpgs buy a PSP.

Did I say that, or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me??

While Persona 4's coming out in a bit for Vita, the above is more or less correct. If you want to play JRPGs *right now* on a Sony portable, the PSP is where it's at.

Eventually, the Vita might get there...
