I am really considering importing the JP version, but I know with the servers and what not on the other side of the world, I should experience lag right?

I own both a Vita and 3DS and love both. ^-^ (Speaking about JP PSN unless stated otherwise)

might not work at all. i think its going to require a JP PSN to play online and the game does not have a SP mode.

I have a JP PSN and was expecting it to be online only. I have no issues reading it, but the online servers being so far away is what worries me.

You have to log into your sega online jp account to play it from everything I've read. As they stated you can play the same characters you play as on the pc with the pc players. So you'll just load it up and see the login screen where you would use your Japanese Sega ID to get into the game. It should work fine assuming you have a japanese Sega ID and they haven't blocked NA IPs since last time I played, and even that can be easily avoided.

Not much lag on the PC versions unless you're in a full block running emergency mission during Japan's busy hour, then maybe. Dunno about the Vita one.
