What respect, TC hasn't shown nothing but disrespect by making this topic. You can't give lectures on that ****.

Last I checked, respect is earned. TC hasn't done that and y'all wonder why the youth is always mad. So out of touch with reality, open your eyes.

Dude, all he asked for was people his age to connect with online. He wasn't making any ageist statements. Why don't y'all go back to tumblr with that snuff and just let people socialize as they see fit?

Are you being intentionally dense? People look for individuals that match certain criteria all the time. Age is just one of those criteria, and isn't necessarily ageism, more often than not it's a desire to create a group that they can fit in without feeling like they're not keeping up with the times. Which is what you damn kids make us old people feel like ALL THE TIME when all you can talk about is the latest newfangled graphicsfest and how awesome it looks.

And when we try to ask you stuff like 'So, what do you think of Zaxxon/Yars' Revenge/Phoenix/*insert very old game here*' the BEST we can hope for is you talking about some remake that misses the point, and more often, what we get is either a blank stare or cries of 'd00d that game sux, look at those dated graphics, play Final Cutscene XIII instead, it looks so awesome, not like that old crap!'.

And you wonder why we prefer to look for gamers our own age? The generational gap that separates our videogame experiences is so wide it makes most communication somewhere between hard and nearly impossible. People who never even held an Atari controller in hand can't understand our point of view. This has been shown time and again. This is why old people like me prefer the company of older gamers. Sure, we'll play new games too, but we want someone we can talk about old gaming and the like without receiving awkward silence or blank stares 75% of the damn time! And the majority of you kids CAN'T hold an oldschool gaming conversation with anyone over 30 if your lives depended on it, simply because you never even heard of the majority of the titles we may talk about!

So stop talking about ageism. It's all about fitting in, not segregating. If anything, you newer generations have been doing the segregating, with how constantly I hear you kids say that retrogaming is overrated and not worth the time.

In case you didn't know, people can be real dicks even if they're old or young, TC chose to segregate a whole generation from another. So what's his reaction to an encounter with a teen, who never says anything deragotory or inflammatory to him and shows total gamer respect, is he going to just quit the game immediately, cause that what he/she should do based on this topic, of segregation since teens make him uneasy.

Ok, so would it be fine, if TC made a topic, about how he only wanted people of his own kind to play with, since other kinds would make him feel uneasy or because he had already developed, certain stereotypes and characterizations of other ethnicities in his mind? Hell, no. Topic would be shot down in seconds, why is this form of segregation more acceptable than say race or gender? You can't instantly change your age, like how you don't choose who you're born to and what you're born as.

I mean, if he was ephebiphobic, I'd sort of understand, but it's the Internet, like come on. He won't get terrorised, if they have a huge falling out. Last part about tumblr is just naivety at its finest, open your eyes.

And here you go again. In case you haven't noticed, TC didn't say 'YOU DAMN KIDS STAY AWAY FROM ME'. He only said he's looking for oldschool gamers to play with. Given how oldschool gamers, again, have a different mindset when it comes to gaming, it's only natural he'd look for similarly inclined gamers to play with, instead of just anybody.

Having friends in the list is for more than just gaming, too. It's also for chatting and exchanging opinions. Which brings me back to my previous point: what's the point for TC in adding someone who will just go 'lol what are you talking about' if he says, for example, 'Man, Bayou Billy was such a bad game!'? There'd be no communication there. You'd have no idea what he's talking about and he'd just grow frustrated because he can't find someone who is old enough to know what the bloody hell he's talking about.

So he goes and makes this topic so he can find like-minded players.

Also, in martial arts movies, old school invariably kicks way more ass than new school. Why do you think the old master always has to be ganged upon or defeated through trickery lest he curbstomp everyone, while his foolish student has to struggle to come out on top? :-p

Gotta love the "YOU" young people, it's like I'm seeing déjà Vus of one epithet being used on cousin's race, (multi-ethnical background) this time on age. Read my posts, before you litter my presence with such ignorance. I'm not even, going to bother endulging the stereotypes, you've already seem to have established about today's youth.

They are a lot smarter, than you think and can appreciate classics, if you even ATLEAST, bothered to try, to interact with them. People are different, life experience should have at least taught you that.

I'd really like to meet those 'young gamers who can appreciate classics', you know. Because, in case you haven't noticed, sales of actual classic games (and by that I don't mean PSOne games, I mean things like Super Hang On, the Wonderboy games, Alex Kidd, Shinobi and the Turbografx games) on PSN have been hideously bad, and most comments I've heard about them can be summed up with 'BUT THEY LOOK SO DATED!'.

It's not a damn stereotype when it's the majority of the reactions people get online. And additionally, no amount of intelligence can make up for the just plain different mindset that older gamers and younger gamers have. Young gamers who can appreciate classics may exist... but they do NOT appreciate them the same way an older gamer does, simply because older gamers were born in a period where thinking was different. Even only 15 years are already enough to make even everyday conversation awkward, let alone conversation on a subject in constant evolution like gaming.

Seriously... if you can't even understand that, then you're the one who lacks life experience. Having common sense and a good head on your shoulders, sadly, is NOT enough to fill the generational gap. There'll always be things that people won't be able to reconcile over due to sheer age difference, rather than simple differing opinions.

EDIT: And it's midnight here, and I have work tomorrow. Will be back later tomorrow, if this is still alive.

Um, let's test your theory with race, white folk/ rednecks owners here? (Friends exchange)
Nope, doesn't work. Oh wait, guys, I'm just trying to find people of a similar racial mindset when it comes to socialising, it's only natural he'd look for similarly, categorised gamers to play with, instead of just anybody.

Those young students never had tazers, if one student got the chance to subdue the teacher for atleast two seconds, he'd be done, bye bye bruce li. Technology and natural evolution have always favoured the young..

Ever heard of passing the torch? Yep, it doesn't have to awkward at all. You're just making excuses. You can't argue on what a stereotype is, when you seem so out of touch with the demographic, you're so openly critical off. Seriously, in your previous post you made an assumption that I spend most of my time on image-hosting files tumblr which totally wasnt and isn't the case. You based that on a stereotype of the average teen, even though the only piece of information you know about me, is that I have a stance against ageism.

Seriously... if you can't even understand that, then you're the one who lacks life experience. Having common sense and a good head on your shoulders, sadly, is NOT enough to fill the generational gap. So if I don't force your opinions into my head, NOTE: "opinion," then I don't have the adequate, life experience, lol?

EDIT: And it's midnight here, and I have work tomorrow. Will be back later tomorrow, if this is still alive.

Take care.
