Should I let Vita fully charge the first time? Or is it ok to use it right away

Im too anxious to play on my vita. Is it better to let it fully charge for the first time or what?

I'd say go ahead and play! I had half charge when I first got mine and just played with it plugged in...no adverse effects here!

I think you're talking about a thing that can happen to certain types of batteries. Too tired to search up the words I'm looking for.

Doubt it could do much, if any, damage. I recall the instructions that came with the PSV saying that you need to charge it if it doesn't turn on, which implies that you can use it right off the bat no matter how little charge it may have.

Bonus personal experience: I started using mine, even updated the firmware, before I had completely filled the battery for the first time. Have had seemingly no adverse effects.

You don't need to charge it before using it. It has zero negative effects.

I agree with this. I'm careful with all my electronics, but the battery is something i'm not making a big fuss about. Watching after load cycles, charges and all that stuff... what for? So the battery holds a bit more juice a few years down the road? My point is, if it gets bad, i can just get a replacement battery for a few bucks anyway. I'd rather have to get one a year earlier and just charge the thing when i want to.

When i'm on a big trip, batteries usually aren't good enough for me anyway and i make extensive use of stuff like this:
