PS:Vita Vs Tablets Vs Nvidia Shield

#11Blackfire210Posted 1/7/2013 1:37:24 AM
Honestly, the Shield looks great. Kind of makes me nervous. Will I buy one? Hell no, I already have a 3DS and Vita. I love the PC game streaming, I just bought a 7970 though, I'm not making the switch to nVidia any time soon. Although now I wish I did. :(

I don't expect much from it. I'm guessing it'll take at minimum at year to release from now, with a price of at least $300. Not only that you need a 650 graphics card which is decently pricey already. And the act of having to upgrade your computer or buying a new one is a hassle not many people will go through.

By the time it launch's, Vita will have a price drop. PS4 may come out, in which I expect gaikai to take its course and provide a competitive solution to the "stream steam games" problem sony may face.

Thats the way I see it.

You dont need a computer to use it at all. Its a android based portable gaming device with a Tegra 4 that's going to compete with the PS Vita and 3DS.

I'm sure some "hacker" will get it working with AMD equivalent cards. Its not like it relies on CUDA cores.

Vita isn't standing as is. A couple more months and everyone here will be raging about their expensive vita paperweight that gets discontinued. I'm just a bit early to the party...

So with tablets being released and Nvidia making its own handheld, are you guys concerned with Vita being able to stand the storms of Tablet, 3DS and Shield?

Yeah.. it could.. depending on Sony's strategy.

The pricing is important of w/c the Shield isn't announced.

I am assuming 499.99

+720p 5" multi touch screen (don't know if IPS)
+Tegra 4 (most likely better than VITA)
+4K output
+standards: USB, HDMI, MicroSD
+A pure independent Android Device

The VITA'd still have a place as long as Sony sticks with their word of dropping MSRP soon.

It isn't a traditional handheld, heck it isn't even out of home portable. It is a peripheral.

it is a traditional handheld though.

Explain to me how it isn't?

It's a touchscreen stuck to a 360 controller that mostly just plays smartphone games and is only notable for streaming games from your PC... as long as you have a compatible NVIDIA graphics card.

Sony stock is tanking from what I've been hearing. Pretty much asides their studios and PS3 everything else hasn't been able to turn a profit or much of one at all.

Sony as a whole could easily collapse within this decade.
