Could Sony reboot the Vita?

I think most would agree that the storage option for the current vita is a huge hurdle to the success of the system, and I was curious if Sony would be able to take the core structure and OS of the vita, but get rid of the idiotic proprietary storage and replace it with SD cards. Thoughts?

I don't think they'd move back to SD, maybe work out some internal memory thing.

You mean a PSVita Go?
Yeah they could, but probably in a few years like with the PSP GO.

Internal storage is sort of a last gen thing. Similar to how with Sixaxis it was thinking ahead to get rid of rumble. Overpriced cards in an age of flash memory and hard drives. The work involved with them is an experience unto itself, and when you pay more money, you know it must be better tech.

but are you guys saying youd rather store games on an external hard drive for a portable? That seems a bit cumbersome, even with how slim external HD are these days. 32gb SD cards would seem to do fairly well, certainly cheaper and more flexible than Sony's current option.

They need to come out with a model, at least for Japan, that plays UMDs. The PSP is getting better games than the Vita is (by a wide margin) there and there is no way to play them on the Vita, so why upgrade?

The proprietary sticks isn't a problem, it's the price of them. Sony doesn't care to lower the price, even though by most accounts they are incredibly poorly made (in terms of performance) so should be dirt cheap.

The real problem is games. Has a terrible line up in Japan and the West, with nothing on the horizon, really. Soul Sacrifice might do okay, but the horrible theme is going to turn off the vast majority of people.

Just wait until the PS4 gets announced, Sony won't even bother with the token effort they are giving the Vita now....

The reasoning for the current mem cards they use is mainly because it's faster to read/write to than sd cards..also it's a little harder to hack. Which is fine for me. I've not had an issue with having to back up saves on my computer. It's becomes second nature to me. If i want to play a new game i just plug it in while i'm playing on my xbox for a bit and transfer info as needed. Reboot isn't needed. they should focus on getting games on the system and advertising.
