What's Next For The Vita In Japan?

Interesting article. I had no idea the 3DS sold a little over 4k one week, then after the price drop, sold almost 200k the next week. That goes to show (SONY), a price drop would be very beneficial at this point.

Not really sure what's interesting about that. Then again, I've been lurking the VITA scene for a while now.

For now, the system's fate heavily relies on Sony and their in house devs.

Regardless, a price drop would be very much welcome. A much better package would be if every VITA system is sold with a 4 GB card as to dampen the whole "hidden cost" issue.

I think the majority of purchases will happen after a price drop as well. I was going to wait for that but I caved in early. >_>

The week before the price cut. Before the price cut was announced, it was selling 20-30K a week.

Only time 3DS came close to selling as badly as the Vita was the 2 weeks after the price cut was announced and that price cut hitting the stores, to be frank you had to be a idiot to buy a 3DS during those 2 weeks.

It really does seem like a simple solution at this point. Lower the price, add a memory card (should've came with internal memory to begin with, but whatever), and this thing should start moving like hot cakes. Take the financial hit now, and recoup later once units start selling.

It's not like it's an inferior product by any means. With the right support, this system should be selling right along side the 3DS.

But I don't work for a corporation or Sony, so what do I know?

Just a suggestion from an outside perspective....

Hey you never know, maybe that's why it's not selling now.

Maybe they're waiting for the inevitable price drop before biting. Just look at the Black Friday sales. Still nowhere near 3DS numbers, but much better than what it's doing now.

Only when the Vita continues to sell horrid numbers AFTER an offiical price drop, is when people would be justified to call it a flop, IMO.
