I have always thought the Vita would be at least a moderate success and I won't change my mind about that until it's cancelled. It's a nice system and I think it will start selling well if Sony does what they have to. I believe they will. Haven't bought a Playstation console that I wasn't very happy with yet (the same goes for Nintendo for the record).

In spite of how the PS3 is doing now, its ultimately a failure.

Sony didn't bank on the PS3 getting second place/tying with the Xbox 360. Sony banked on the PS3 to be the second coming of the PS2 and utterly crush the 360 and Wii with uber-hardware and a lifespan unseen before in the console industry. The PS3 was supposed to usher in the Blu-ray format as a HD-/DVD-killer format (which it did but then got killed by digital distribution). The PS3 was supposed toact as a home media center with remote functionality between other Sony products (Sony TVs, Sony music players, Sony Vaios, Sony PSP, etc).

As bad as the PS3 was doing, Vita is doing notably worse. I'm not saying it's going to be discontinued early. It won't. And I'll definitely look back at all this and laugh, just like with the PSP and PS3 (heck, I'm laughing already. This board is a cesspool of hilarity). But people are concerned, and rightfully so. Even if Vita doesn't get discontinued, it will never gain any significant support if Sony doesn't turn this thing around somehow.

companies literally ran away from making games for the psp because of rampart piracy the only thing that saved it was monster hunter and even now thats gone
