Is the retail price of a PlayStation Vita affecting the success of its sales, or is the Vita being priced at $250 reasonable?

Obviously it's negatively affecting the sales, and no, I don't think it's worth it at the current price.

WAY too much.

I sold off 80 units EASILY at $150. I didn't even have enough time to list them before they were bought up right away.

The problem is that the system price of $250 is coupled with the high memory card price, so instead of the initial $199-$249, you see that + memory card price, (for the sake of argument we'll use the 32GB because we all know that's what we'd choose if the price was right) so it becomes $299-$349.

If the vita had any form of internal memory, or came bundled with a decent size memory card (16GB minimum) then this wouldn't be an issue either.

I personally believe that the VITA's current price tag negatively affecting the sales and i think the $250 price tag fits it well.

The only reason people don't buy the vita is because they can't afford it? Really? That's the logic we are STILL falling back on?

Most definitely for two reasons:

1. Real life example: 3DS was not doing that good. They dropped the price and BAM it sold like hotcakes.

2. Comparison: I can buy a 360 or a PS3, full fledged consoles with MORE games, for $250 so why buy a Vita?

Both of those are PROOF it needs a price drop.

I think the vita is actually worth what they are asking for it. That said, it needs memory with it for that price. I think 16g is fair for $250 and 32g for $300. Throw in a 3month subscription to PS+ and I think it would sell better.

Of course the pricing is affecting sales. The question is by how much.

So in other words, it's actually NOT worth the asking price.

1 They lost profits which is a companies main goal to get. More sales =/= greater profits especially if they drop it so it sells for less then what it costs to make

2 Because it's portable.
