It should be a redesign for the Vita and an announcement for the new console. Ideally with some type of ambassador type benefit for people who spent money on the original vita.
The Vita isn't a poorly designed and shoddy console, so it doesn't need a re-design.
They also (foolishly, admittedly) didn't drop their price, so why give out ambassador games if/when they do drop it?
Poor designs aren't the only need for redesigns. I still have working models of the original SNES, 360, PS1, PS2 and PS3
The need of a redesign is pretty debatable. Its current design is more or less the reason it cost what it does, and if the 3DS is any indication, its price is whats hurting it ability to sell.
If they won't drop the price of the current model, another way out of the situation is to sell a new product for less than the cost of the old one.
