i heard somewhere that you could download something like a free demo on the japanese psn store transfer it to a ps3 log into your usa account on the vita transfer the demo back and still play it. is this true? if not is there anyway to have access to some japanese content well still being able to use the stuff i bought on the usa psn?

I don't think so. I think both the ps3 and psvita psn have to match before you can transfer it. I don't know for sure though but if it was that easy people wouldn't complain about needing 2 memory cards and having to reformat the vita to use jpn games.

It could be done before the memory cards became PSN locked. In other words, if you downloaded a demo on your Japanese PSN account, then did the whole switcheroo to your US or EU PSN account, you could still play some of the demos.
Now that memory cards are account locked, you can no longer do this (that I am aware of).
