If two people use the same screen name can they play against each online?

I want to play my brother in a game. If he uses my screen name will he be able to play against me same games?

I know it works from PS3 to Vita. I want to know if it works Vita to Vita. I am sure it will. But do not want to go through hassle if it doesn't of format and all.

if he makes his own PSN id he wont be able to play the same downloaded games without paying. thats probably the idea.

Wait, you can use the same profile (and same downloaded games) on multiple vitas, but not multiple accounts on one Vita?

No, but you can play ad-hoc with each other if you are close enough. I know this because that is what my brother and I did with Ragnarok Odyssey; he had a PS3, and I had a Vita, so we decided too use the same PSN. Later, he got a Vita too.
I tried this using both a physical and digital copy. If one person using the PSN goes online, the other person gets kicked, even if playing a different game, as tested through bpth trying to play online at the same time, one using Mortal Kombat, the other Street Fighter X Tekken.
