USB 3.0 for Vita?

#1jim200Posted 2/6/2013 3:19:16 PM
I tried a backup using my old computer with USB 2.0, and it said 57 minutes left.

I then in the vein of science tried it on my sister's USB 3.0 and it started at 52 then kept going down to 47 in a matter of a minute until I stopped it.

Does that mean Vita utilizes USB 3.0? If so, I'm so happy!

I don't think it does. Depending on how old your computer is, then the hard drive inside of the computer might be running at slower speeds than the one in your sister's computer, which can affect the transfer rates.

Did you try plugging the vita into a USB 2.0 port on your sister's computer to confirm this theory?

If it was USB 3.0 it would have dropped more than from 52 to 47

vita does not support 3.0 my computers ports run on 2.0 and they are actually realatively fast 5-10 minuets maybe a little longer for a complete system back-up

was the port on ur sisters comp blue or black? if its blue its a 3.0 and originally the vita does not work with 3.0 theres is an update that you can get access too to allow the vita to work with 3.0 ports how ever its possible the vita may not work with a 2.0 port again

Blue or black? What madness is that? My laptop has two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, and they are all black.

The issue your link refers to is USB 3.0 ports not even recognizing the Vita at all, not allowing your Vita to utilize USB 3.0 speeds, sorry to say.

USB 3.0 ports will read USB 2.0 units slightly faster but not very noticeably

The issue with what some of you guys are saying is that my sister has 4 USB 3.0 ports so I can't see whether it's just my sister's newer HDD doing that.

It does have a 32GB SSD as the OS and some other thing's main drive, so that could be what's speeding it up.

I believe PS Vita does not support USB 3.0 speeds because with what some of you are saying it should go much faster than just about ten minutes faster.

I did not notice an incompatibility with my Vita not connecting to USB 2.0 after I tried it in my sister's 3.0 computer ports. If it means anything I just got the Vita on Tuesday Feb. 5th so it may have already been updated with that patch that lets it be detected on both 2.0 and 3.0 .

And last, my backup is 19GB if you'd like to know more about the benchmarking of it.

Thanks for all your replies!
