Numbers are straight from Sony themselves. So yes, they're hard facts.

facts of what? A GUESS(because thats what it is) of what they THINK they will MAYBE sell. what kinda fact is that?

It's a projection not a guess. The projection being lowered isn't a good thing.

a projection is a guess. its a guess using current data they have. so its an educated guess but its still a guess. It's too bad Xfactor didn't post a link that actually had sony say that is was gonna be down to 7million. Sony's quote that they have in that article doesnt mention any numbers at all. So yeah nice "Facts" you got there.

Nope, Sony didn't say anything about lowering it to 7 million... oh wait they did! Anyways, that's horrible that they cannot move enough Vitas with PSP involved to even cover 7 million! I think they should just cut their loses and bluedmon should stop reassuring himself.

Exactly. A very educated guess factoring in information the public doesn't have. The link doesn't quote the whole statement and doesn't quote Sony saying that the projections lowered but I would assume that was a mistake. I believe they did lower the forecast though as that link has the source of them saying it they just didn't quote it.

That being said yes it's an educated guess. Sure the vita can sell 100 million tomorrow but it's next to impossible. When Sony made the vita they projected it to sell x amount. They have lowered that amount several times now. That isn't a good thing. They were banking on making x amount of money off the sales and now they don't have that money.

It's like black jack. You got a king and a 4. You take a hit banking on getting a 7 or lower. you keep getting that same situation and you keep hitting and getting a 8 or higher. Eventually you will run out of money to play with. Same principle. Sony is not selling what they banked on.

Clearance sections are retailers thing to make money on items that aren't selling. Doesn't effect Sony in a good way.

Price drop to $199.99 wifi vita with a 4GB card. Not having a memory card included puts off customers. They want to be able to buy the system and a game and be able to play it once they get home and not have to worry about the game working or not. Once a customer chooses to get a vita the next question should be what game do I get? Not which memory card should I get.

Once you explain the point of the memory card customers will feel like they need the 32GB card which costs $100. If you remove that discussion then customers will just focus on the system and games and worry about memory card space at a later time if at all. The 32GB card is something you shouldn't have to think about until after you bought a vita.

That's how the PS3/XBOX 360/Nintendo 3DS/Wii U work. You buy the system and games and far down the road, if you care, you start thinking about updating your system with a bigger hard drive/memory card. You don't think about those things when you first purchase the system. The vita makes you think about it as it doesn't come with the space necessary to play games.

thats not sony saying it. thats somebody saying that sony said it. i can say Sony mentioned that they expect to sell 50 million by march 31, 2013 that doesnt mean they said it. they have their own section that is quoted

"Sony’s earnings report reads:

In the digital imaging and the game businesses, which are positioned as core areas of the electronics businesses along with the mobile businesses, the shrinking market for compact digital cameras, due to the expansion of the smartphone market, and the slow penetration of the PlayStation Vita portable entertainment platform are recognized as particularly important issues.

Sony is working to improve profitability through reinforcement of its high value added products that are differentiated by the use of highly competitive image sensors developed by Sony. In the game business, Sony is working to expand sales and operating income through the introduction of an attractive software lineup and through offering game software on mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets."

Where do you see a number there. cause that all that sony said unless there is a link to the full earnings report because its not in that article.

A guess is a guess no matter how much data is behind it or what you wanna call it. That is a fact. The only thing im reassuring myself of is what i learned in college business 101 and statistics 101. Oh and how much this board loves to talk about Vita sales in Japan.

well im off to bed. I'll check when i wake up if a useful link is posted. Until then PEACE!

So you are disputing the claim that Sony said they are dropping the projections of the vita/psp to 7 million. That's fine but why did you bring up it's a guess in the first place if you didn't think the story was true?
